👋 Welcome

• Victoria Braithwaite welcomed everyone 👏

 

🌟 New Steering Group

• A new Steering Group was introduced:
• ✅ Patrick Leatherd
• ✅ Lucy Wilding
• ✅ Ben Raynor
• ❌ Sarah Scard (couldn't come today)
• ❌ Joanne Johnson (couldn't come today)
• 🗓 They meet once a month on a Tuesday before the main Hear Us Heroes meeting.

 

🆕 New Logo & Flyer

• The Steering Group chose a new logo 🎨
• A new flyer with the logo was made 📄
• Victoria gave everyone a challenge:

Give a flyer to someone who might like to come to Hear Us Heroes
If they come to the next meeting = 🎩 your name will be put in a hat + 🎁 win a prize!

• New items will be made with the new Hear U Heroes logo:
• 📍 Pin badges
• 🖊️ Pens
• 🧸 Squidgys
• Everyone liked the colours and the new logo ❤️🧡💙

• Victoria said we’ll have new invites 💌

🙋 Volunteers

• Victoria has received 20+ volunteer applications
• She and the Steering Group will contact people by end of September 📅
• We want Mystery Shopping to start in September

 

🎤 Hear Us Heroes Got Talent!

• 💃 Show off your hidden talents (singing, dancing, etc.)
• Audition in front of a fun panel
• Final showcase in December’s Christmas Meeting 🎄

🗣️ Co-Production Group Feedback

• Victoria reminded us of last month’s work with Adult Social Care Co-Production Group
• Their first idea was:

“ We will work together to deliver our aim of 'Nothing about you without you’. To do this we will work with all our different and diverse communities in making decisions about support and services provided.’’

• Our group said:
• ❌ ‘Nothing about you without you is’ too hard to understand
• ❌ Too wordy
• 👍 Maybe say “Everything about you with you”
• ❓ What does “diverse” mean?
• 👍 Needs Simpler words
• 👍 It should be more meaningful
• 👍It needs to feel like a slogan

✅ They listened and changed it to:

“We will listen to, work with, and involve you to improve the decisions we make about the services and support we provide.”

👥 Most people liked the new version
💬 Some still feel like they aren’t being heard

 

🎥 End of Meeting

• We watched the “This is Me” singing video 🎶from our performance and our celebration event for Learning Disability Awareness Week 🧠❤️
